Digital Media Planner & Strategist – Wantable – Los Angeles, CA

The Digital Media Planner is responsible for devising and executing media plan initiatives that will reach & convert prospective & existing Wantable customers, ultimately driving company growth profitably.

A key understanding and focus on CPA/CPO, ROI, and ROAS is required for a person to be successful in this role. This role is responsible for the planning and executing of digital media campaigns within set marketing budgets with direction & collaboration with the Sr. Director of Acquisition and the CMO.

This role will require a deep understanding of 3rd party media consoles such as Facebook’s Ads Manager and Google AdSense as well as advanced Excel skills. You’ll be expected to perform ROI calculations accurately and have an advanced understanding of performance. Accuracy & good judgement are critical in this role.

You can expect to spend about 50% of your day managing, updating and adjusting campaigns and bid strategies. 25% updating and maintaining internal reporting systems and analyzing data, with the rest of your time spent researching, discussing and working directly with fellow marketing team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support Strategic Media Planning, Execution & guidance
  • Partner with Sr. Director of Acquisition in creating a performance media vision & articulate and share this vision with upper management and across teams
  • Support & participate in the creation of sophisticated performance strategies across SEM, Display, Video, Social, Affiliate and SEO
  • Assist in developing advertising technology strategy and influence marketing technology strategy in partnership with internal technology stakeholders
  • Manage and leverage key vendor relationships to provide strategic insights and value to Wantable. Implement new capabilities and manage subsequent media plan revisions.
  • Establish media best practices and a performance playbook for the broader organization
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to help improve efficiency and effectiveness of media spend (such as data science, BI, creative & marketing partners)
  • Proactively develop an innovation agenda across digital media with support from Sr. Director of Acquisition and the CMO
  • Create a data vision and roadmap for digital media in close partnership with Analytics and IT Teams
  • Analyze media plans to optimize effectiveness through evaluation of performance and recommending opportunities to improve efficiency and impact.
  • Develop strategies to utilize a DMP to maximize media productivity

Performance Measurement & Insights

  • Evaluate current trends in the marketplace and provides perspective to leadership for evolution of programs.
  • Maintain and communicate digital marketing performance reporting and insights.
  • Partner with channel owner peer set to share results of omni-channel media programs and tests with appropriate internal teams, complete with go forward learnings and actions.
  • Maintain forecasting and billing reconciliation process for media initiatives.
  • Work closely with marketing analytics and external partners to assist in the development of program attribution.
  • Assist with technical aspects critical to the success of the team (ex. taxonomy development, data on-boarding, data collection strategies, etc.)



  • Advanced understanding of digital media industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of performance marketing and demonstrates best practices in Direct Response/Iterative Marketing
  • Proficiency across multiple digital marketing channels including Social and Paid Search – Affiliate marketing experience is a plus.
  • Lead working in and understand the capabilities of key ad tech – DSPs/DMPs (Oath, Trade Desk,Conversant), Google AdWords, Impact Radius, Social platforms, etc.
  • Understanding of analytical tools including multi-touch attribution with an emphasis on how to interpret and activate results
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Advertising and a minimum of 3-5 years digital marketing experience.
  • Working knowledge of data management platforms and data onboarding solutions.
  • Working knowledge and usage of website traffic analytics software (Google Analytics)
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.


  • Self-starter with proven success in a fast paced work environment (retail experience a plus)
  • Strong listening, negotiating and organization skills
  • Experience withTableau is a plus.
