Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Edit/Media Specialist I E/W for The Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research (IFH). This position puts in place vehicles to create momentum and awareness, participates in strategic planning, and develops an integrated communications plan to advance the Institute’s mission at Rutgers, and internationally. Communications at the IFH inform many audiences, including faculty and students, government agencies and non-governmental organizations, industry, foundations and other partners. This position, which reports to the Director of IFH, plays a key role in telling the institute’s story and expanding its presence.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Creates a wide variety of original content that successfully executes communications strategy, engages audiences, and conveys the impact of IFH.-Works with the institute director and faculty across Rutgers to in identify compelling stories and convey them across media and platforms, collaborating with freelance videographers and graphic designers as needed.
  • Produces web content and feature stories, prepares social media and blog posts, and writes copy for print collateral such as brochures, annual reports, and event assets.
  • Ensures work is well researched, strategically sound, highly creative, and tightly written.-Develops collateral publications, website and social media, video, prospectus and proposals, speeches and presentations, and media strategy.
  • Utilizes events, speaking engagements, and other activities to forward the Institute and its leading faculty among global health experts and partners.
  • Participates in creative and strategic brainstorming sessions, stays abreast of digital and content marketing trends, and helps identify new storytelling opportunities.
  • Coordinates social media activity. Develops and executes a social media content calendar, builds partnerships across Rutgers and elsewhere to increase the institute’s social media presence, and tracks/reports analytics.
  • Meticulously edits, fact-checks, and proofreads own work, as well as content submitted by faculty and institute staff. Ensures that a web-based database of IFH remains current by fact-checking and updating content on a regular basis
