Minimum Qualifications

Completion of high school and one year of experience in audiovisual equipment operation and maintenance, graphic design, and/or photography; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Job Functions

The primary purpose of this position is to support students, faculty and staff by creating an efficient learning environment with digital equipment. Essential duties includes but not limited to:

  • Manage and maintain digital output equipment such as shopbot, laser cutter, 3d printer, vinyl cutter, 3d scanner, ceramics decal printer.
  • Provide and maintain hours and availability for student operations of digital equipment and training as needed.
  • Assist and facilitate training of Woodshop Tech duties, or other needs, for applicable classes.
  • Provide general instructional support for faculty such as classroom demos and trainings for materials and equipment.
  • Supervise and implement student workers in studio areas by working directly with area coordinators.
  • Supervise and manage equipment cage and student employees for Comm. Photo.
  • Maintain visual resources for library and mobile digital carts for checkout by students and faculty.
  • Act as liaison between Lab Ops Manager and Comm. Photo/GAIT needs.
  • Assist Lab Ops Manager in general studio, and facilities maintenance and management (15-20 hours per week).
  • Assist Lab Ops Manager in implementation of health and safety protocols throughout department.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
  • Ability to lead training and facilitate communication between program areas.
  • Ability to convey technical information and other concepts verbally to a wide variety of constituents.
  • Ability to exercises creative judgment in deciding upon the audio and visual format and approach using a wide range of audiovisual materials.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Thorough knowledge of audiovisual equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge of media production techniques, which includes photographic and artistic media.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with digital equipment.
  • Supervisory experience.

Communication: Conveys advanced technical information and artistic concepts verbally and in writing to a wide variety of clients. Presents ideas effectively through a wide variety of media.


Knowledge-Technical:
Thorough knowledge of audiovisual equipment operation and maintenance. Thorough knowledge of media production techniques, which includes photographic and artistic media.


Creativity:
Exercises creative judgment in deciding upon the audio and visual format and approach using a wide range of audiovisual materials. Executes production techniques and procedures that are rather sophisticated and requires artistic discretion in material presentation.

Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity and market considerations.
